Sustainable Objectives
STC’s objective is to make clients more selective and environmentally conscious with materials and methods used in construction. STC believes that modern architecture are structures that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient: from siting to design, construction, maintenance, renovation, and demolition (Wikipedia 2011).

Sustainable architecture in building materials is one of those four pillars based around earth, air, fire and water, which translates into materials, space, energy and water (The Daily Telegraph 2006). Therefore the simple rules of thumb for building owners are: anything that will improves building efficiency is worth doing and reduce the size of everything, smaller buildings use less material which means it’s more sustainable and efficient building designs (Green 2010).

STC aims to develop the most sustainable building for our clients; therefore, embodied energy, operational energy, construction cost and life cycle analysis are all part of the design process. With the increasing international focus on reducing energy consumption and monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, which has put the construction industry under scrutiny (CSIRO 2000), STC Consultants aim to evaluate how materials that are used in the Caribbean affect the environment and how these environmental impacts affect certain choices made on our projects.
